Janet's Harp Summerschools are based in Irish traditional music, style, repertoire and technique - but is accessible to all and blasts away the myths around 'how we do it traditionally'.

Join us for a completely accessible, illuminating and immersive, social and joyful week of harping from one of Ireland's most successful teachers and professional trainers.

Significantly progress your harping from whatever stage you are at now – whether you are a total beginner or performing professional.

In the magnificent setting of the south west of Donegal and in one of the most vibrant (old style) traditional music communities, these weeks will significantly progress your harping from whatever stage you are at now – whether you are a total beginner or performing professional.

Janet, one of Ireland’s most experienced performers and teachers looks forward to working with you in a very positive, productive, fun and friendly environment with all the comforts of turf fires and cosy cups of tea after the day’s labors!

Harp classes run daily to 3.30pm, with daily walks and trips out in the amazing locality - from the highest sea-cliffs in Europe (featured in a James Bond film!), to the spectacular Silver Strand, 'The Rusty Mackerel Pub', historic Stone-age tombs and the Colmcille pilgrim's trail; with tea at the Glencolmcille Folk Village and shopping at the Donegal Knitting factory shop. These weeks are certain to inspire and motivate on every level and, we are open for bookings now!!

For a real Irish experience, don’t miss these courses! (There are discounts for more-than-one-week bookings – and look out for the early-bird prices).

DONEGAL HARP WEEKS

Glencolmcille

Based at Bunbeg House at Bunbeg (see www.bunbeghouse.com ) idyllically located by the harbour wall in the heart of Bunbeg village and community.   Accommodation is in twin, double and single rooms (all en suite) and in-house, there is the Bunbeg Bistro and bar for our late evening activities. Fly into Dublin, and then fly again to Donegal Airport (55 minute flight, priced under €30 and just 2 miles from Bunbeg House.  We pick up all our passengers!).  Also coaches to Bunbeg twice daily from Dublin centre with McGinley Coach Travel (a 4 hr 50 minr ride through the scenic centre of Ireland with comfort breaks).   See www.johnmcginley.com for bus info.

These weeks are particularly special for those that enjoy the great outdoors and the remote and rugged parts of the West of Ireland coast – with great beaches for swimming, boat trips to Gola and Tory islands and walks by the magnificent Errigle Mountain.  Gweedore is just a few miles away and you are at the heart of Gaelic speaking Ireland - full of music and storytelling.
