Janet's Harp Summerschools are based in Irish traditional music, style, repertoire and technique - but is accessible to all and blasts away the myths around 'how we do it traditionally'.

Join us for a completely accessible, illuminating and immersive, social and joyful week of harping from one of Ireland's most successful teachers and professional trainers.

Significantly progress your harping from whatever stage you are at now – whether you are a total beginner or performing professional.

In the magnificent setting of the south west of Donegal and in one of the most vibrant (old style) traditional music communities, these weeks will significantly progress your harping from whatever stage you are at now – whether you are a total beginner or performing professional.

Janet, one of Ireland’s most experienced performers and teachers looks forward to working with you in a very positive, productive, fun and friendly environment with all the comforts of turf fires and cosy cups of tea after the day’s labors!

Harp classes run daily to 3.30pm, with daily walks and trips out in the amazing locality - from the highest sea-cliffs in Europe (featured in a James Bond film!), to the spectacular Silver Strand, 'The Rusty Mackerel Pub', historic Stone-age tombs and the Colmcille pilgrim's trail; with tea at the Glencolmcille Folk Village and shopping at the Donegal Knitting factory shop. These weeks are certain to inspire and motivate on every level and, we are open for bookings now!!

For a real Irish experience, don’t miss these courses! (There are discounts for more-than-one-week bookings – and look out for the early-bird prices).

Glencolmcille, DONEGAL HARP WEEKS

Glencolmcille

Based at Ionad Siuil (the walker’s hostel) at the centre of Glencolmcille village, a newly built facility with an open fireplace in the main room (to warm the soul!) and every room ensuite. Accommodation is in twin rooms (all en suite) for single or twin occupation. Fly into Dublin, and then onward by bus to Glencolmcille (this is a 5 hour journey).  Aim to arrive into Dublin before mid-day; otherwise you may need to seek overnight accommodation somewhere en route. Of course, you can fly and hire a car from any airport.  (Drive time from Dublin is 4 hours).

These weeks are particularly special for those that enjoy the great outdoors and the remote and rugged parts of the West of Ireland coast – with great beaches for swimming (including the spectacular Silver Strand, and there will certainly be trips to Teelin to the highest sea-cliffs in Europe (where a James Bond movie was filmed!).

These harp weeks revisit the original location for Janet’s summerschools – that all started here in the early 1980s... and revisited and enjoyed during September 2018
