‘Sord Cholmcille’ - premiere of my new workperformance 1

My new work commissioned by Fingal Arts Office, was performed by voice and harp duo, Mary Louise and Teresa O’Donnell with reciteur Bryan Murray in Swords Castle in August. Inspired by Colmcille’s own composition of a hymn to the Great Creator (Altus Prosatur), Check it out here:

More information:
Among the many monasteries founded by St.Colmcille was the abbey at Swords, north County Dublin, that laid the foundation for the City of Swords, the capital of Fingal County. ‘Sord’ means sacred or pure well-spring, and Colmcille’s own hymn to the ‘Great Creator’ (Altus Prosatur) is the text around which I composed this piece. At the core of my Colmcille Suite that many harp players are participating in this year, is the singing of plainsong – the single melody-line of sacred chant from 15 centuries ago – offering a serene and joyful uplifting of spirits for us all in these challenging times. The legacy of Saint Colmcille is still a stalwart beacon of reassurance today and I hope to add the music of Altus Prosatur to the suite….

2021 Tour to Germany with the Irish Harp Orchestra.

With regret, due to the great uncertainties around the pandemic, this tour has been postponed to 2023 when we hope the world is better able to manage the virus and the havoc it has wreaked on the Performing Arts world has become a nightmare of the past. Please stay safe and well everyone and hopefully we will be back performing before long.
