This is a solo version of the great war-march – known in Northern Ireland as the ‘Boyne Water’ celebrating King Billy’s victory at the Battle of the Boyne (where the tune was heard played by the fifes), and ‘Rosc Catha na Mumhain’ (or the ‘War Cry of Munster’), where the tune found a new patriotic text for the Irish.
