Psalm (or Amra meaning Lament) from the Colmcille Suite is an instrumental piece based on a 7 phrase Ostinato (repeated sequence), each phrase with 6 pulses, repeated 8 times.  The music is in a style reminiscent of ‘Organum’ – the style of monastic chant in parallel open intervals of the 5^th – with a second part of florid melody, dancing freely in and around the chant theme representing the joy of the human spirit in praise of God.
