The Harp Orchestra Polka Set No.1 is a combination of 3 polkas

entitled ‘John Egan’s’, the ‘Murroe’, and ‘Peg Ryan’s.  These are East Limerick polkas from the rich tradition of music for set dancing in the Sliabh Luachra region which is  the mountainy area straddling the three counties of Limerick, Cork and Kerry in south-west Ireland.  Polkas were substituted for Reels in the set dancing here which is always fast and fabuless!  

This arrangement is recorded by the Irish Harp Orchestra (formerly the Belfast Harp Orchestra) on the ‘A Christmas Collection’ album (2006).  It is one of their regular concert inclusions and often accompanies set dancing on stage!
